Varsity Head Coach - Bobby Lutz
With almost twenty-five years of teaching and coaching experience, Coach Lutz brings an immense amount of lacrosse knowledge to the Greenwich lacrosse program. In his sixth year leading the team, Lutz looks to once again make a run at both an FCIAC and state championship. Formally the associate head coach under legendary hall-of-fame coach Jeff Brameier, Lutz spent eight years at Darien High School, where he helped the Blue Wave win six state and four FCIAC championships. After graduating from Fordham University, Coach Lutz spent eight years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, New Canaan High School, working under another hall-of-fame coach, Howard Benedict. From 2003-04, he spent two years as an assistant at Stamford High School where he currently teaches English. He has helped coach over twenty-six All-Americans, sixty-eight All-State players, four Academic All-Americans, and three CT Players of the Year.

Varsity Defensive Coordinator - Jeremy White
Coach White started the Stamford High School lacrosse program in 2001 and was the head coach until 2013. He joined the Norwalk High School staff from 2013-2016 before coming to Greenwich in 2017. He was also an assistant boys varsity basketball coach at Stamford High School from 2002 - 2011, an assistant boys varsity basketball coach at Norwalk High School from 2012 - 2016, and has been an assistant with the girls varsity basketball team at Stamford High since 2017. Those years on the basketball court have helped bring a combined total of 4 FCIAC finals appearances for those 3 teams. He was also the head girls soccer coach at Stamford High School from 2012-15.
JV Co-Head Coach - Frank Wells
Coach Wells has been coaching at GHS for the past 21 seasons with this being his 18th season as the JV Coach. Coach Wells is also the Head Freshman Football Coach at GHS since 2016. After Graduating from GHS in 1995, Coach Wells Attended Western New England (College) University where he played Football (1995 & 1996) and Lacrosse where he was a 4 year starter from 1996-1999 and a member of the Coaching Staff in 2000. Coach Wells was a 2 Year Captain and All League Player his Senior year in which he was selected to play in the East vs West Senior All-Star Game. Coach Wells has been working at the Edge Fitness Club in Riverside, CT for the past 16 years as a Personal Trainer.
JV Co-Head Coach - Joe Vrtiak
Coach Vrtiak has been coaching the Freshman Boy’s Lacrosse Team at GHS for ten years. His lacrosse career began from 1980 to 1989 at Eastern Junior High. From 1990 to 2002, he was an assistant coach at New Canaan High School, spending several of those years coaching the freshman team with Coach Lutz, a former player of his at NC. Coach Vrtiak is greatly indebted to Mr. Howard Benedict, New Canaan’s Head coach for thirty-five years. Coach Vrtiak calls him “The Master” and credits him with continued support, mentoring and for instilling in him an unbridled passion for lacrosse. Coach Vrtiak is part of GHS’s Special Education Program. During his tenure as a coach at both New Canaan and Greenwich High School Coach Vrtiak was a member of 6 FCIAC County and 5 CIAC Boys Lacrosse Championship teams.
Freshman Coach- Brian Zeller
This is Coach Zeller’s first year with the Greenwich High School boy’s lacrosse program. Coach Zeller grew up in Baltimore, MD and played his high school lacrosse at Loyola Blakefield (Md.) He then went on to play midfield for the University of Maryland Terrapins under Hall of Fame coach Dick Edell, earning all-American and all-ACC honors. He was captain his senior year and played in two NCAA championship games. Coach Zeller and his family live in Cos Cob and he also serves on the Central Middle School PTA.
